Subject
Book of Acts
Description

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Theme: Greater Faith

Background: Read 1 Kings 17

Ahab was possibly the most wicked king Israel had ever had. His leadership brought God’s judgment.

  • Ahab’s wickedness had brought on God’s judgment through a severe famine. What does God’s response to Ahab’s idol worship say about God?

  • Vv. 1-7 What does God’s actions toward Elijah say about God?

  • Vv.8-16 The widow and her son were preparing to die. What was Elijah’s message to her if she took care of God’s prophet first, and thus honored God first? What does this say about God?

  • Vv.17-24 To whom did the woman complain about her son’s death and why? To whom did Elijah complain and why?

  • According to verse 24, what was the reason God allowed the son to die and be brought back to life? What does this say about God?

Read John 9:3; 11:4 and James 1 Why does God allow us to go through such difficult trials? How can these difficulties draw you closer to Him and transform your lives as a result?
