Nehemiah 7 “Organizing for Overcoming”

  1. Recognize where you are most vulnerable.

  2. Delegate gatekeepers to help in vulnerable areas.

    • The character of a gatekeeper.

      • Gatekeepers are mature believers who have evidence of spiritual fruit in their lives.

      • Gatekeepers will be honest with you.

      • Gatekeepers are given a specific task and will hold you accountable in that area.

  3. Reorganize according to your strengths.

  4. Reorganize by respecting others. Seek forgiveness where you have not done this.

  5. With a joyful and worshipful heart, give.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

  • Vv.4-6 How does the diversity of gifts, service, and works reflect the activity of the one God through the Trinity?

  • How should your activity in the church reflect who God is and your need for others?

  • V.7 What is the Spirit’s intended goal for working through people in the church?

  • Vv.8-10 How do you see yourself being gifted by God to help others grow closer to Jesus?

  • Vv.8-11 Look at this list of spiritual gifts. How could each gift become either a source of personal pride or a source of blessing to others?

  • Vv.4-11 Why has the Holy Spirit gifted people so that we need one another? (for help read John 17)

  • V.11 Who decides who is gifted with what gifts, ourselves or someone else?

  • Pray: Ask God to reveal what your gifts are so that you may help people grow in loving Christ.
