“Becoming God’s leader” 1 Samuel 17:55-18:5

  1. God Raises up His leader

  • Jonathan gave of himself to David to join him in establishing God’s kingdom in Israel.

  • Saul took his as king to establish his own kingdom in Israel.

  1. Grow together

  • I will give what I cannot keep to gain what I cannot buy. Godly friends in God’s service.

  • I will intentionally encourage and learn from another godly brother/ sister in Christ.

  1. David’s success

Like David, I will strive to love God above all by obeying His word.

Vv. 1-3 The nations plot a vain thing

  • Why would the peoples and rulers of the earth be against God’s kingdom coming?

  • Why were the Jewish leaders against Jesus’s followers in Acts 4?

  • What were the disciples requesting from God when they prayed this Psalm in Acts 4:23-31?

Vv. 4-12 God is in control

  • When David battled Goliath and the disciples battled against the council, what was their message? Acts 4:10-12, 1 Sam.17:46-47
