Description

Group Question(s)

  •  When did you buy something that was advertised as doing something that it did not deliver on?
  • There are many philosophies and religions in this world. One of many things that sets apart the biblical faith in Jesus as Lord is that God's love for you is not based on "what" you have done, can or will do. *Think about when you trusted or considered a philosophy or a religion made by men (could even be a "form" of Christianity).
  • How did that false philosophy or religion (or misprepresentation of Christianity) make you work for approval?

Into the Bible Questions

  • Two deceptive philosophies: 1) Be a good Christian and earn both God's and others approval, 2) Jesus is good but Jesus plus something is better. READ John 3:16, Rom. 5:8, Luke 23:34, Eph. 2:1- 10 How is God's love in Christ all we need?
  • Dig deep: Does your Motivation for doing good/ the right thing reflect how He has loved you or a need to earn approval of others and/or God?
  • Another deceptive philosophy in our culture is that we should make up our own religion, which says Jesus is great but you should also add something else, such as horoscope and/or palm reading or some special teacher that says he or she has a "new truth." What does the Bible say about these in Deuteronomy 18:10- 14, Ezekial 13:3- 10, Jeremiah 10:2, Amos 5:8, 2 Kings 21:6, Galatians 4:9- 11, Colossians 2:8, 23

Application Questions

  • Is there someone who is or has really bothered you, taken advantage of you or hurt you? Write down 1- 2 names.
  • Love and serve them as they don't deserve because Jesus did the same for you. First pray regularly then live out "Father forgive those who have sinned against us, and help me to do the same so that I may walk in your forgiveness not as a hypocrit but as your child with grattitude.
  • How does this application push you to live out the reality that Jesus is the fullness of God who is making you complete?
