SERMON NOTES

Immersed for a Purpose Acts 2:1-13

Prepared to be Filled

  1. The believers were regularly together in one place. Are you?

  2. They were ready for God’s redemptive timing according to His promise and purpose. Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4, 1:8

Conclusion: You will, we will not experience personal or church revival if we each do not sacrifice to be together regularly growing in Christ! Acts 2:42, Matt. 28:19-20

Immersed for a Purpose: description of the filling

  1. From God not man: We must depend on God as a community, rather than, ourselves or this world in isolation.

  2. The Spirit immersed ALL believers. The Holy Spirit immerses ALL believers according to God’s saving work by faith through grace in Jesus as our resurrected Lord.

  3. Fire: God is a consuming fire. The Holy Spirit enables believers to live holy lives and share the Gospel with power/ boldness.

The Crowd: Don’t be surprised when others do not understand. Just be faithful.

Conclusion: You will speak the Gospel of God in power only as you experience it by obeying Jesus and depending on the Holy Spirit.

Read John 3:16-18

  1. Truth: God SO loved the world that Jesus suffered and died to save sinners like us.

  2. Who do you know who is living in the dark delusion of sin?

  3. What is the present condition of this person according to John 3:18?

  4. Jesus told us to go to sinners just as He did in Matt. 28:19-20. How can you bring the light of the Good News into this person's life? Being involved in this person’s life and serving them will open doors to let in the Light.
