Sermon Based Questions for Personal Devotion and Small Group Meetings

 Group Questions

(Ice Breaker) - One person in the group, (not the leader) share the most memorable story you know of someone suffering for their faith?

Into the Bible Questions: Read Acts 4 (all answers are in Acts 4)

  • Why were Peter and John arrested?
  • In verse 20 Peter said they could not stop talking about what they had seen and heard. Why? (hint v. 12)
  • The Jewish religious leaders were educated in what we call the Old Testament. What did they notice about Peter and John's Bible education? (hint v.13)
  • What was the result of theprayer in verses 23- 35?
  •  What was the effect of John and Peter's willingness to share the Gospel, repentance from sin and faith in Jesus as the resurrected Lord and Christ? (hint verses 31- 35)

Application

  • List one person you know who does show fruit (Galatians 5:22- 23) and being to pray for them right now to put faith in Christ?
  • Do you feel judgemental in doing this? What does Christ say in Matthew 7:15- 23 about judging those who claim to be believers? Also read Galatians 6:1- 5 and seek to have a spirit of grace and reconciliation toward those who do not appear to be believers.
  • This week share with that person(s) how the Lord is working in your life to turn from sin and love others, and ask them what there experience is with Jesus. Finally, as the Spirit leads and according to Scripture, share how Jesus death and resurrection for them can bring healing and hope.
