Central Passage
Ezra 1-3
Subject
Ezra-Nehemiah
Description

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Theme: Restoring right worship

Read Ezra 3:8-13

God’s people shouted. The new generation praised God. The old generation wept out loud.

  • What resulted in these two different responses to the temple’s foundation being laid?

  • If you could talk to that older generation, how would you encourage them to look at the new foundation in a way that would cause them to praise God rather than weeping?

  • According to v.11 what should our attitude be when facing a difficult situation in life?

  • What challenging situation are you going through that you need to shout with faith v.11?

Read Romans 1:23-25 How does our worship get misdirected away from God?

Read Mark 13:1-2 and 14:43-51

  • What were the disciples believing and not believing that caused them to be afraid and fearful at Jesus’s arrest and crucifixion?

  • In what area of your life are you needing to believe the power and truth of the Gospel over another power and message?
