Description

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Theme: Trust God with the impossible

Read Exodus 14:1-4 “God’s Plan”

  • God took His people on a confusing path to what appeared to be a dead-end. Why?

  • When have God’s commands been confusing to you?

  • How had God already proven to Moses and Israel that He was powerful over Pharaoh and Egypt?

  • How has God already proven that He is more powerful than the powers and fears in your life?

Read Exodus 14:5-20 “Hot Pursuit”

  • How have you been like Pharaoh with a stubborn attitude toward God? Has this brought you to faith in God or are you still frustrated?

  • What was Israel’s attitude in v.8 compared with v.10? Had God’s promises for them changed?

Read Exodus 14:21-31 “God’s Victory”

  • This is one of the most defining stories in Israel’s history. What did God teach His people about Himself? How is Jesus’ resurrection even greater?

  • In vv.30-31, what lessons had they learned?

Read 1 Corinthians 1:18-30  Like Israel, what lesson should we learn from Jesus’ greater saving work?
