SERMON NOTES

Luke 1:5-25; 57-66 “Worth the Wait”

  • I will trust God to write His good story into my story.

  • I will trust God to bless me as I seek to bless others.

  • I will pray for others to know Jesus, and I will expect joy to come.

  • I will trust God to use tough times to increase my faith and to be my Good News.

  • I will trust Jesus to be my Good News by calling others to receive forgiveness by trusting Jesus.

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Focus Point: Faith

Genesis 15:1-6 Abram’s fear and desire was normal for families during that time, which was to have a son to continue one’s name and legacy.

  • (V.1) Where did Abram need to put His faith?

  • What did God promise Abram He would bless Him with, presumably through Sarai?

Genesis  16:1-6

  • Did Sarai and Abram act on God’s promise or their own power to fulfill God’s promise?

  • Do you think Sari was happy with her decision in the end? How did it affect her relationships?

Genesis 17:15-19 & Genesis 18:9-15

  • How are Abraham and Sarah’s responses similar?

  • According to the angel in 18:14, where should they have put their faith?

Reflection:

  • According to Hebrews 11:11, what gave Sarah the power to give birth in her old age?

  • Where do you need to trust God to be your very great reward and fulfill His promises?
