Background: The scribes and the Pharisees were the Bible experts of their day.

  • Vv.1-2 Did Jesus challenge their role or how they carried out their role as teachers of Scripture?

  • As God’s representative, when you speak before others you teach what you believe about God.

  • How does your behavior affect how others see God, His message, and His church?

  • V. 3 The world separates a leader’s private moral behavior from their public behavior. How does Jesus’ life and teaching differ?

  • V. 4 How was Jesus' example different from the hypocritical teachers of the day? Explain.
