“Broadcast Good News” Ephesians 5:15-21

I. Vv.15-17 Watch Your Step (Be wise in how you live)

    A. Three Ways to Live Wise: "Wisdom is to . . ."

  1.  Grow in knowing the Gospel plan (God's saving plan in Christ).
  2. Grow in holiness by living out the Gospel.
  3. Grow in an eagerness to maintain unity.

    B. Don't be a fool, but be wise and understand the Lord's will. (Rom.12:2)

"Deepen your understanding of God's will through Christ-centered instruction and Spirit-filled conduct."

Take-away for life: Behave with care and urgency in every area of life, according to the Gospel.

II. Vv.18-21 Live by the Spirit

    4 Ways to live Spirit-Filled

  1. Instruct one another: Speak the Gospel to one another. Col. 3:16 (Speak the truth of God's saving work and promises to one another.)
  2. Make worship to the Lord: Make your life joyful worship to the Lord. Rom. 12:1-2; Deut. 6:4
  3. Give praise and thanksgiving joyfully for your salvation: Make each day a thanksgiving card for Jesus.
  4. Submitting to one another: Humbly serve one another for Jesus. (Out of reverence for Christ.)

Take-away for life: Worship God by loving and serving one another with the Gospel in word and deed.

WHO'S YOUR ONE! Begin with prayer.

PRAYER for others: Exalt God before them. Pray for their needs. Show them the love of Christ that He has shown you.

Urge God to hear your prayer, Urge Yourself closer to Christ, Urge Others closer to Christ!

Mission: Imitating Christ to spread the Gospel.

Focus Point: Spirit-Filled Life

Read Genesis 39

  • Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers after having dreams of being honor by is family.

  • Vv.1-6a How did Joseph respond to enslavement?

  • What was the result of the way Joseph lived both for himself and those he worked for? Why?

  • What was the last time you were slandered or treated unfairly at work and how did you respond?

  • How does Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:13-16 guide your response to unfair treatment?

  • What should the goal of our behavior be for those who treat us unfairly? Matthew 5:16b

  • Vv.6b-20 What happened when Joseph’s integrity was tested? Was he honored for his integrity?

  • How do you respond to slander? Why is following Joseph’s example better for you and others?

  • Vv.21-23 What kind of prison worker was Joseph?

  • What did Joseph’s response to unfair and harsh treatment say about his character and faith?

  • Worship is elevating God above all else.

  • How can you worship like Joseph at your job?

  • Believe that God will use your example to bless others and bring them to faith. Ask God or faith.
