SERMON NOTES
“Fan into Flame” 2 Timothy 1:1-18
Know Thyself
Fan your calling into flame by trusting God’s promises and grace for your life.
Sincere Faith
Value your salvation and calling as precious and of equal value in Christ.
Fan into Flame
By God’s power, fan your sincere faith through love and self-control.
Share in Gospel suffering through God’s power as you share Jesus without fear.
We are forgiven and sent to serve the Gospel because of Christ’s efforts and not our own.
Since God will guard your life, guard His message of life by suffering for it.
Be an example of a faithful flame of Gospel light.
DEVOTIONAL: personal and small groups
Focus Point: Calling
In Acts 22:3-5, did Saul/ Paul think he was living a good or bad life?
Acts 22:6-11 What new information did Saul receive about Jesus from Jesus?
Others around Saul did not understand his salvation experience. How was this true for you?
In Acts 22:10, like Saul, how was your call to put faith in Christ unbreakably tied to a call to obey and follow Jesus into His work/ ministry?
In Acts 22:12-16, what was Saul’s first public act of obedience that showed He was united with Christ’s saving death and resurrection?
Acts 9:26-27, why did Barnabas risk his reputation to bring Saul into fellowship with the church?
Acts 11:25-26 Barnabas was seeing many non-Jews come to faith in Antioch. What plan of action did he take, why, and what was the result?
Saul recognized his call to serve: from Christ, from his obedience to Christ, from the results of his obedience to Christ, and from others like Barnabas who recognized God’s call and gifting.
Based on Saul’s (a.ka. Paul’s) life, how can you grow in knowing and discovering your call to know and make Christ known to others?
