Acts Series

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Theme: Life of a believer

Read Acts 8:26-40

  • Who is guiding Philip throughout his travels in this story and for what purpose? (Acts 1:8)

  • When approaching the Ethiopian, the first thing he did was listen then what? What can you learn from Philip’s approach to sharing about Jesus?

  • Philip shared the Good News about Jesus from Isaiah 53. Read Isaiah 53 and use to describe the Good News.

  • Based on the Ethiopian’s request to be baptized into water. How do you think what Philip told the Ethiopian was similar to Philip’s experience in Acts 2:36-38?

  • Should our message to people be any different today?

  • Being a eunuch, the Ethiopian could not worship in the temple in Jerusalem. Why was he so happy in v.39? How are you like or not like the Ethiopian?

  • In v. 40, do you think Philip enjoyed what he was doing? Do you think everyone Philip shared with became a Christian? Do you think this kept Philip from sharing, why?

  • Explain why Jesus is Good News for people who believe. How is following Jesus good news in our present life?

  • Philip was not one of the 12 apostles and was feeding widows in Jerusalem. He was a regular person.

  • What are some simple life practices Philip did that you can follow?
