Mission: Imitating Christ to spread the Gospel.

DEVOTIONAL: personal and small groups

Focus Point: Holiness

Read John 17:14-19 (Sanctification is Missional)

  • To whom has Jesus given his life saving and transforming “word”?

  • Christ’s followers find him as their source of life and salvation. As you look at your daily routine and behavior, what is your source for life?

  • What did Jesus say the world would feel about those who found Christ as their source?

  • In vv.15-16, what did Jesus ask from the Father and why do you think he asked this?

  • Sanctify means to become holy like God in our behavior. God is holy in that He is uniquely good, transcendent, and distinct from creation. God calls Christians to become holy like Him while living in an unholy sinful world.

  • V.17 Why does a regular intake and application of the truth of God’s word in our lives result in transformation? (especially the Gospel message)

  • Vv.18-19 Jesus “sanctified us in the truth” by suffering and dying for us.

  • According to this passage of Jesus’ example and His mission for you, how should you live toward God and others in this world?
