“Walk the Walk”  Ephesians 4:25- 5:2

1) 4:25 Truth God is light and truth:

Take away: Strengthen one another by speaking Gospel truth to one another.

2) 4:26-27 Anger: God is steadfast in love.

Take away: 1. Control your anger before it controls you. 2. Speak Gospel truth to extinguish anger and heal. 3. Be accountable to walk free from anger.

3) 4:28 Generosity: God is our generous provider.

Take away: Work hard so you can share in the joy of generosity.

4) 4:29-30 Reconciliation: God reconciles.

Take away: Speak the joy of forgiveness to one another.

5) 4:31-5:2 Redemption: God redeems us into one by His grace.

Take away: Make up your mind to forgive each other as Christ forgave you.

Focus Point: Living the New Life

  • According to Jesus in Mark 7:20-23, what is the source of our sinful behavior?

  • Read Ezekiel 36:24-27. How has Jesus changed your source and how should your life look?

  • Read Galatians 5:16-21. What hurtful pattern of behavior in your life have you told yourself is too powerful to stop?

  • Read Romans 6:1-13. What is the truth in Christ that can give you the power to stop this behavior?

  • What do you need to do to put away this compromised thinking and behavior?

  • What excuses and lies are preventing you from being set free from this behavior? Psalm 32:5

  • Read out loud John 8:36.

  • Read Galatians 5:22-23. What new fruit should you expect to come from leaving behind the sinful behaviors you listed?

  • Read Galatians 5:24-25. What reason does this passage give you to live by the Spirit?

  • Read Galatians 5:26. What attitude could prevent you from seeing your sin and living free?

  • How will living free from these sinful thoughts and behaviors bring you and others joy?

  • Praise God using Psalm 67.
